GREG YAKIMEC PT, DPT
Staff Physical Therapist
Greg brings over 8 years of clinical experience to JEM, treating people with physical abilities ranging from low activity levels, to competitive and lifelong athletes. He received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy with high honors from Ithaca College in August 2014, as well as a minor in Nutrition Promotion. He is passionate about providing high quality, personalized PT treatments, to reduce pain and enable full participation in daily functions and sports activities. As a current active rock climber, runner, and previous Ultimate frisbee athlete, he has specialized knowledge in these sports activities.
Greg is certified in trigger point dry needling and has been performing this treatment since 2017. Not to be confused with acupuncture, this is a powerful treatment technique to address dysfunctional muscles which have trigger points ("muscle knots"). Results often include immediate reduction of muscle tension, and improvement in muscle performance. It can also be used to address surface scar tissue, visibly reducing scars and improving the health and quality of local skin tissue.
Educating patients is a primary hallmark of Greg's treatment style, with the objective of enabling each patient's best understanding of their condition, anatomy, purpose of PT interventions and daily methods for minimizing pain and maximizing function. Effective manual treatment techniques, and exercise prescriptions are of course another key component of high quality PT treatment which can be expected from working with Greg.
